The remuneration of central staff has been separated into several grade pay levels from level 1 to level 18 under the 7th pay commission. Dearness allowance is computed on the basis of grade pay and travel allowance in this case. The lowest compensation in Level 1 is Rs 18,000, while the maximum salary is Rs 56,900. Similarly, remuneration varies according to grade level from 2 to 14.
However, there is no grade pay at levels 15 through 18. The pay is determined here. The lowest basic wage at Level-15 is Rs 182,200, while the highest salary is Rs 2,24,100. Level-17 has a fixed base pay of Rs 2,25,000. At the same time, the base remuneration is set at Rs 2,50,000 even at Level-18.
